Sherpa aspires to help families of mountain climbers

Tshering Dolma Sherpa, winner of Mrs. Nepal Tourism 2019 and the winner of Best Hair Award, is now active in several activities for tourism promotion of Nepal. She got a chance to fly to America in October last year to promote tourism.
After winning the title, she got a chance to represent Nepal in the international level event and stayed in the US for 100 days. During the period, she participated in around two dozen programmes to publicise, promote and enhance the images of Nepal in the international tourism market.
“I asked the Nepalis residing in America to encourage their two American friends to visit Nepal which was taken positively,” she said. She visited 16 states of America to promote Nepali tourism.
The government had appointed her tourism goodwill ambassadors for tourism and culture for two years from October 2019 to October 2021 to promote Visit Nepal Year 2020, which the government postponed later with the fear of COVID-19. She submitted a report about her 100 days’ work in the US to Yogesh Bhattarai, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, before the government took the decision to postpone the VNY 2020 campaign.
Sharing the 40-day programmes she attended before, Sherpa said that the orgnisers provided personality development, grooming, gesture, posture, action and body language class, hair and makeup tips, leadership and women empowerment, human rights and legal advisory, motivation and public relation, drug rehabilitation and education, human trafficking classes to all the participants.
Moreover, the participants also got an opportunity to take part in classes on art, culture and literature, hospitality management and table manner, zumba and fitness, huge media coverage with personal in national daily newspaper, mass facing professional portfolio photo shoot and personality development training.
She said all classes were beneficial to all participating women to enhance their career and personality development.
Mrs. Nepal Tourism 2019 was promoted by Nepal Tourism Board for promoting Nepal tourism as VNY 2020. “I hope that all Nepali women could be inspired from my journey,” she said.
Inspiring from the importance of education, Tshering Dolma Sherpa’s namesake foundation has hosted a charity launched in New York on December 29 to help children and families of Nepal’s mountaineers, especially the porters and guides who were killed during climbing expeditions.
A fund of about Rs. 1.6 million was set up to provide education to the people who involved in tourism sector in Nepal. She is planning to enrol seven children from Dolakha, Simikot, Sindupalchowk, Ramachhap, Taplejung and Solukhumbu in schools in the upcoming academic session.
