National Tharu Literary Conference begins

Dhangadhi, Feb. 25: The Sixth National Tharu Literary Conference has begun at Sinhapur in Krishnapur Municipality-6, of Kanchanpur.
Chief of Krishnapur Municipality Karna Bahadur Hamal inaugurated the conference amidst a function on Thursday.
The three-day conference is jointly organised by Tharu Writers Association and Tharu Kalyankarini Sabha Kanchanpur with the objective of preserving and promoting the Tharu language, literature and culture.

Secretary of the Tharu Writers’ Association Satya Dahit informed that Tharu writers from all over Nepal are participating in the conference.
National Tharu Conference has been held in Nepal for some years now. Four works have also been released during the inaugural session of the conference.
A cultural programme was also presented at the inauguration.


On the first day, Tharu literature and journalism in Sudurpaschim Province, Tharu’s identity, and the situation of the Tharus in Kanchanpur politics are discussed.
Other various issues like why Tharu women lagged behind, social media and Tharu literature and other issues related to Tharu community will be discussed during the conference.
Tharu writer and journalist Dr. Krishna Raj Sarbahari, Tharu writer Sushil Chaudhary, advocate Geeta Chaudhary, writer Chhabilal Kopila, Man Bahadur Chaudhary and others are participating in the conference.

Similarly, group discussions to be held at the conference will be attended by chiefs of various local levels, Rana Tharu community leaders, writer Shivani Singh Tharu, Sudurpaschim Literary Society president Ram Lal Joshi, journalists and others.

Books and works written by various people are on the display at the conference co-organised by Tharu Language and Literature Utthan Forum.
