Kathmandu, Mar. 14: Lyricist Dr. DR Upadhyaya, who has set 80 world records, has come up with a new song Chepang Basti.
He said he came up with the song with an objective of awakening the Chepang community.
Santosh Shrestha has composed the music of the song sung by Dr. Upadhyaya.
According to lyricist Upadhyaya, the song narrates the problems of the Chepang community, initiatives to be taken by the government for their solution and various awareness programmes for the community.
Directed by Michael Chand, the video was shot at Jimling Chautara, a Chepang settlement in Chitwan.
Various people from the Chepang community, journalist Napoleon Chepang, lyricist Dr. Upadhyaya, Sunita Khanal, Yam Bahadur Gharti and Krishna Bhusal have acted in the video of the song.
Lyricist Dr. Upadhyaya who earlier had set 80 world records, is currently in the race to increase his world records to 103.
