Book entitled 'Buddhism and Buddhist Heritage in Pakistan' launched

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Mar. 31: The Embassy of Pakistan organized the launching ceremony of a book on Pakistan’s Buddhist heritage titled “Buddhism and Buddhist Heritage in Pakistan” today.

The book is authored by eminent author Om Charan Amatya.

Prem Bahadur Ale, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal, graced the occasion.

Mr. Bidya Sundar Shakya, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) presided the event.

Special Guests at the occasion included Esala Ruwan Weerakoon, Secretary General SAARC Secretariat, Kathmandu; Himalee Arunatilaka, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal; Vosita Vorasaph, Ambassador of Thailand to Nepal; Sein Oo, Ambassador of Myanmar to Nepal; and Prof. Dr. Haridaya Ratna Bajracharya, Vice Chancellor, Lumbini Buddhist University, Lumbini, besides venerable monks and Buddhist scholars.

Addressing the occasion, Mayor Shakya highlighted the significance of cultural heritage as an important facet of people-to-people contacts. He termed the Buddhist heritage as a joint legacy of both the countries.

Syed Haider Shah, Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, highlighted the significance of cultural and historical linkages in strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Nepal. He commended the author for his meticulous work, according to the press release issued by the Embassy of Pakistan.
