Tunnel test of Melamchi Project begins

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Feb. 22: The testing of the tunnel in the Melamchi Drinking Water Project has begun today by filling water in the 26.5-kilometer long tunnel.

Spokesperson of the Melamchi Drinking Water Development Committee Rajendra Panta informed The Rising Nepal that the testing was done to divert water in the tunnel from Melamchi River to Sundarijal of Kathmandu.

The tunnel test was conducted in the presence of Minister for Drinking Water Mani Chandra Thapa, technicians, and officials of the development committee.

The project informed that the water from the Melamchi River would reach Kathmandu after the testing of the tunnel is completed in three phases by diverting the water. It will take at least two months to complete the test.
