Chitwan, May 11: Tourism entrepreneurs at Padampur area in Sauraha, Chitwan have joined hands to protect habitats for wild animals. They have managed pastures stretching over 91 hectares of land in cooperation with the Chitwan National Park.

The National Trust for Nature Conservation, Chitrasen buffer zone community zone, jeep committee, Ratnanagar municipality-6 and 7 and individuals also lent support.

The project costing over Rs 400,000 is expected to help end conflict between human and wild animals, said Ram Mani Khanal, secretary of Sauraha elephant and jeep booking centre. Wild animals have sneaked into human settlements around the area, causing conflicts between humans and wild animals.

The CNP has set aside Rs 35 million for the current fiscal 2076/77 BS for the management of pastures and artificial ponds in the area. Under this project, pastures spanning 600 hectares of lands would be managed, said CNP assistant conservation officer Gopal Ghimire.
