Kathmandu, Sept. 23: People can exchange new and clean currency notes for Dashain and Tihar festivals from coming Friday.
According to a notice of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), an individual can exchange up to Rs. 18,500 from the counters of its Currency Management Department from September 27.
General public can get the exchange facility of the notes of Rs. 5, Rs 10, Rs 20, Rs 50 and Rs 100 denominations.
The exchange facility will continue till October 4.
People can also get exchange facility of new notes from different branches of Agricultural Development Bank Ltd (ADBL), Nepal Bank Ltd (NBL) and Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) from September 27 itself, NRB said.
“The NRB has managed to provide fresh notes to the public easily this year considering the increasing demand of fresh notes. Therefore, the NRB has arranged ADBL, RBB and NBL to distribute the new notes to the public,” it said.
ADBL will distribute new notes from its branches of Gaushala, Gatthaghar, Ramshah Path, Ratnapark, Thankot and Pulchowk and the NBL will provide exchange facility of new notes from New Road, Kirtipur, Maharajgunj, Jorpati, Patan Industrial Zone, Lazimpat and Bhaktapur,
Similarly, public can also get the exchange facility of new notes for Dashain from the branches of Rastriya Banijya Bank in Singhadurbar Plaza, Teku, Sano Thimi, New Baneshwor, Bishalbazaar and Naxal
The NRB will manage to provide new and clean notes to the general public from its Biratnagar, Janakpur, Birgunj, Pokhara, Siddharthanagar, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi offices.
The central bank will monitor the distribution of the fresh notes by visiting the branch offices of ADBL, NBL and RBB.
NRB urged the general people to exchange the new notes from banks in which they have their accounts.
Meanwhile, the central bank requested the people not to use colour, not to write over and damage the notes.
