By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Jan.16: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) made transaction worth Rs. 1.7 billion when the NEPSE index posted a double-digit growth on Thursday.
The NEPSE index grew by 26 points to close at 1,310.23 points on a single day on Thursday.
A total of 181 companies traded 5.02 million shares in 17,295 transactions to make a turnover of Rs. 1.699 billion today, according to NEPSE report.
The sensitive index, which measured the transaction of group 'A' companies, also recorded a growth of 3.90 points to close at 282.87 points today.
The sub-indices of all groups except others group posted a significant growth.
The sub-indices of life insurance, non-life insurance and manufacturing group increased by the highest point-- 242.58 points, 125.71 points and 97.31 points to close at 6,700.76 point, 5,228.06 points and 2,509.81 points respectively.
Likewise, the sub-indices of commercial bank posted a growth of 19.38 points, trading 28.59 points, hotels 74.55 points, development bank 41.84 points and hydropower 7.97 points.
However, sub-indices of other group went down by 1.17 points to close at 684.90 points.
Himalayan Distillery Limited (Rs.144.93 million), Shivam Cement (Rs. 136 million), NIC Asia Bank (Rs. 68.32 million), Prabhu Bank (Rs. 51.64 million) and Nepal Life Insurance Company (Rs. 48.26 million) become top companies on the basis of turnover in today’s transaction.
Shareholders of NIBN Pragati Fund, Global IMR Laghubitta Bittiy Sanstha, Multipurpose Finance Company, ICFC Finance Limited and National Microfiancne Bittiya Sanstha Limited were top gainers in today's transactions.
However, shareholders of Mahila Sahayatra Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha, Arun Kabeli Power, National Hydropower Company, Sanima Bank Limited Debenture and Laxmi Equity Fund were top losers in today’s transaction.
