Jumla, Apr. 7: Karnali Academy of Health Sciences and Teaching Hospital, in Jumla, has made public its one-year progress report. Dr. Mangal Rawal, Vice Chancellor of the academy, made public the activities of the year. Vice-chancellor Rawal said in the duration of one year, the academy has made strides in the construction of educational, administrative and physical infrastructure.

He added that the success in the operation of MBBS, BNS, B. Pharma and other educational programmes as well as construction of infrastructure had gained momentum during his tenure. The one-year progress report of the vice-chancellor was presented by registrar Nripendra Mahat. In the report, it is mentioned that MBBS programme was inaugurated by Bidya Devi Bhandari. Agreements have been reached with about a dozen hospitals in the country to exchange scientific knowledge for conducting various programmes, including MDGP, MD and other medical programmes.

Similarly, research is being conducted on 20 different topics. Likewise, dermatology, eye disease, ear, nose, throat disease, pediatric and specialist services have been started. Similarly, 25-bed HDU has been upgraded to 50-bed one, with added 6-bed intensive care unit, 18-bed ventilator and electronic medical record system over the period.

In the 10 years since the establishment of Karnali Academy, so far nine specialist level educational programmes have been conducted and now six educational and administration buildings are being run from rented houses. Vice Chancellor Dr. Rawal said that all office bearers, including himself, are focused on making the services of the foundation quick and accessible.
