Kathmandu, Apr. 7: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said that the government is positive in developing the health sector and making the services available for all.
PM Deuba made this remark while addressing the fifth senate of Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences on Wednesday.

“Established in 2013 B.S. as ‘Soldiers Board Hospital’, the academy has now been developed into a 500-bed hospital and also produces manpower for health sector. I thank everyone for their contribution in bringing the hospital to this level,” said PM Deuba, who is also the Chancellor of the academy.

In 2019 B.S., the hospital was developed as a 15-bed Pokhara Hospital and became the district hospital of Kaski. In 2032 B.S., the hospital was upgraded as Gandaki Zonal Hospital with a capacity of 50-bed.
It was in 2043 B.S. when the zonal hospital was declared as a regional hospital after its capacity was 150-bed. Now, the hospital serves as a medical institution and hospital with 500-bed capacity.
“The academy has provided quality health services and education for the people of Gandaki region for years. It is a matter of pride. Quality health service is the first condition for development. A country’s economic and social development is possible only with healthy citizens,” PM Deuba said.

PM Deuba also suggested the academy to promote new findings and research in health sector from across the globe and utilize the learning to produce more competent human resource.
“The academy has upgraded itself timely in the sector of service providing and infrastructure. Its contribution during the COVID-19 pandemic is also laudable. I expect that the academy develops itself to tackle similar pandemics more effectively in future,” PM Deuba said.

Concluding his address to the senate, PM Deuba informed that the government was always positive in helping the academy to develop further.
