By Baburam Sharma, Charikot, Oct. 31: Domestic tourists have started thronging at Cho Rolpa, Nepal's largest glacial lake, located at Gaurishankar Rural Municipality-9 in Dolakha district.

The glacial lake which saw no visitors for two years owing to visit restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic was opened just a month ago.

"We have a lot of domestic tourists now," said Shriya Shrestha, a local.

Situated at 4580 meters above sea level in Rolwaling valley, it takes five days on foot to reach the lake from Simi Gaun.

As the trekking route to the lake is found to be fascinating and thrilling, the glacial lake has been a center of attraction for many, said another local Ratna Tamang.

Hotelier Thuldu Sherpa said that hotel entrepreneurs were having difficulty providing accommodation to all the tourists as the number of domestic tourists has become too large. "Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the area would be crowded with foreign tourists."

He said over a thousand domestic tourists have arrived at the lake after the Dashain festival and the number of visitors was growing day by day.

This glacial lake can be reached from Simi Gaun through Surmurche, Kyalche, Dongyang, Beding and Na.
