Kathmandu, Oct. 21: Lalitpur Metropolitan Police Office rescued an abducted girl in Lalitpur in an operation lasting for three and a half hours on Monday night.
An eight-year-old girl was abducted from Imadol on Monday evening.
Police had received information that the girl had been abducted at 8:00 pm.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chief of Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur Tek Prasad Rai said that three persons allegedly involved in the abduction were arrested after rescuing the girl at 10:30 pm.
The abductors were found keeping the girl in their room at Harisiddhi. Police said that they managed to rescue the girl with the help of the house owner after the tenants (abductors) were seen bringing a girl in their rented room.
Alleged abductors were identified as Raju Karki, 30, of Sarlahi, Krishna Tolang and Sita Pariyar of Dharapani of Dhanusha. Sita is Krishna's wife, according to SSP Rai.
Although the abductors knew the girl's mother, the girl's mother told the police that she did not know them (abductors).
The girl's mother Gopi Sah works in a garment factory. Raju Karki also used to work in the same garment. After she quit her job, Gopi started working there.
It is said that they took the girl on a bicycle citing her mother would come late for a lunch.
The abductors called the mother and said, “We have your daughter.”
After Gopi informed the police, the police managed to arrest him immediately.
The abductors had a minor dispute after the house owner started abusing her saying why she had brought the child.
After the brawl, the girl ran out. SSP Rai said that the abductors were also arrested after the police arrived at the same time.
A team under the command of DSP Mitrabandhu Sharma of Satdobato Circle arrested them.
The house owner was also arrested by the police but was released after her involvement was not seen. SSP Rai said that further investigation was underway.
