Human rights event to be held

Kathmandu, Dec. 7: The 13th Human Rights Megna Meet is going to be held on the occasion of the 73rd International Human Rights Day by organising various programmes.
This week-long programme will be organised from December 8 to 14 with the slogan ‘To Establishing Rule of Law, Respect Human Rights’.
Every year, Human Rights Day is observed on December 10.

Organising a press meet on Sunday, Collective Campaign for Peace (COCAP) informed that the week-long Megna Meet is going to be organised in the coordination of the COCAP and sub-coordinating organisations of Freedom for All Nepal (FAN) and Shanti Foundation.
The event will be organised in the collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission and other development partners and civil society organisations.

President of COCAP and coordinator of National Human Rights Megna Meet Main Organising Committee Roshna Khadka said that 37 organisations have registered their names to participate in the Megna Meet.
Human Rights Magna Meet has been organised every year since 2009 at the joint initiative of the rights activists, the National Human Rights Commission, and the civil society organisations, which are active for the cause of human rights, peace, democracy, good governance, and sustainable development in Nepal.

The main purpose of Magna Meet is to protect, promote and develop human rights, establish the rule of law by institutionalising democracy and social justice, and make the state accountable to its citizens, Khadka informed.
