Reactionary forces plotted to split NCP: Home Minister

By A Staff Reporter
Kathmandu, Jan. 9: Minister for Home Affairs and leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Ram Bahadur Thapa 'Badal' Friday claimed that the reactionary forces had hatched a conspiracy to split the NCP to prevent political stability in Nepal.
At a meeting organised by the ruling NCP Lalitpur District Committee this afternoon, Badal said that the reactionary forces had prepared three strategies for the split of the NCP.
Minister Badal said that reactionary forces had been involved in the strategy of creating instability in the country from the very beginning after the formation of a stable government.
"The conspiracy to divide the NCP seems to have started since we united the communist movement. Since the formation of a stable government, the forces have been engaged on how instability can be created in the country," he said. According to Minister Badal, the reactionary forces have discovered that there were serious contradictions, dissatisfaction and weaknesses within the party before its split.
Stating that when some of the party leaders developed aspiration to become the party chairman and prime minister and some leaders as ministers within the party, Minister Badal said these types of dissatisfaction within the party have resulted in today's political imbroglio.
He claimed that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was moving forward and focused on national development by bringing the present political situation in the right track after conducting fresh mid-term election. After the decision to dissolve the House of Representatives, Badal claimed, his party led by Oli would achieve victory in the battle against reactionary forces.
‘In the new political situation, a nationwide campaign of progression and regression has begun. We have to believe that we will win this new battle and successfully fulfill the responsibilities given to us by the nation and the people,” he said.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Badal said that restoring the dissolved parliament would breed instability in the country.
According to Our Charikot Correspondent, while addressing a gathering of cadres in Charikot, Dolakha, Badal said, “As the political legitimacy of the old parliament has ended, restoring it will further destabilise the country. Reinstating the parliament will only aid regression. Only a new parliament can bring stability to the country. That is why we decided to seek a fresh mandate.”
He also urged the gathered cadres to be ready for elections.
Thapa further said that the country was in the midst of a clash between revolution and counter-revolution, nationalism and treason and socialism and crony capitalism. He called on the cadres to make the right choice to help realise the ambition of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’.
Similarly, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Parbat Gurung stressed on the need for all socialist forces to come together and stated that he would not hesitate to resign if it would unite the party.
