Butwal, Nov. 25: Finance Minister and general secretary of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Bishnu Prasad Paudel Tuesday said that the circumstances in his party had reached beyond what had been imagined, and efforts were underway to bring the situation on the right track.
Speaking at a press meet in Butwal, he said that boundary of dignity had been crossed in the party leadership, and it was essential to safeguard the party unity. "Help and cooperation from everyone are required for this," he added.
He said that the leaders and party workers were not willing to see a split in the party. "The leaders and party cadres are against division in the party and are rooting to keep the party unity intact. Efforts are being put to safeguard and strengthen the party unity, “Minister Paudel said.
Meanwhile, General Secretary Paudel said that the meeting between Prime Minister and NCP chair KP Sharma Oli and President of the main opposition Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba was usual and constitutional.
He also refuted the news and interpretations that the meeting between the Prime Minister and the Opposition leader was for power sharing.
“The meeting was held to discuss the ongoing important issues such as appointments in the constitutional bodies and measures taken for the prevention and control of COVID-19,” he said.
He further said that there was no need for the Prime Minister who has been enjoying majority in the parliament to hold talks with the main opposition leader for power sharing.
In another context, Paudel said that preparations were underway to take back-to-back positive decisions after he assumed the office of Finance Minister. "I am actively working for promotion of production and employment and resolving the financial issues by making the financial regime dynamic via swift study of the challenging financial condition of the nation," added the FM.
"Currently, priority is being given to COVID-19 centered plans and policies. We are preparing to lay the foundation of primary hospitals across the nation at once," he said.
