Snowfall affects Humla yak farmers

By Our Correspondent
Humla, Jan. 13: Snowfall in the Himalayan district of Humla has affected yak rearing business.
According to the farmers, the pastures where yaks used to graze in the past have now been covered with snow, leaving no green grass for the cattle.
“Even the lower areas have been covered with snow. Stored grasses in the houses have helped for now but if the situation continues, we will have nothing to feed the yaks,” said Dhansur Kami, a resident from Simkot Rural Municipality, who has 34 yaks in his farm.
The farmers argue that it has been a common problem every year but the authorities have done nothing to address the problems facing the yak farmers.
