Country's second largest substation comes into operation; PM Deuba to inaugurate on Saturday

The NEA has named the substation as a New Khimti. The substation was constructed at Manthali municipality-13, Devitar in Ramechhap. The transmission line of double circuit 220 KV brought from Gangar of Dolakha has been connected with Dhalkebar transmission line. Likewise, the capacity of 132-KV power has been connected with Kathmandu through substation.

63.7 % of population fully vaccinated against COVID

Nepal has fully vaccinated 63.7 per cent of its population against COVID-19 as of today. The vaccination campaign had started on January 27 last year. The government is intensifying vaccination campaign in full swing as it aims to fully vaccinate 100 per cent of those above 18 years by mid-April.

Digital archiving of Gorkhapatra essential: Minister Karki

Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has said that preserving the Gorkhapatra, which carries a history of 121 years, is essential. Inaugurating a workshop organised on digital archive of all the publications of Gorkhapatra Corporation (GC) in Dhulikhel on Tuesday, Minister Karki said that various publications of the Gorkhapatra since its inception should be preserved in the digital archive and developed them as national heritage.

Government to recruit 100,000 temporary police for polls

Nepal Police is preparing to publish a recruitment notice for hiring 100,000 temporary policemen (Myadi police) to beef up security in the upcoming local level elections slated for May 13, 2022. “The Ministry of Finance has given approval to the Nepal Police Headquarters to begin the recruitment process of exactly 100,000 temporary policemen,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and Spokesperson for the Police Headquarters Bishnu Kumar KC, said.

The Election Commission (EC) has recognised 79 political parties for the upcoming local level election scheduled for May 13. Organising a regular press meet here on Monday, EC spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel said, “Out of 80 political parties, which applied for registration at the EC to contest the local poll, only 79 parties have been recognised by the EC.”

NEA to electrify all Karnali households in next two years

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is going to fully electrify 10 districts of Karnali Province within the next two years. The NEA has taken forward electrification programme with the aim of providing electricity to every household in Karnali within two years. Electricity has reached 22 of 25 municipalities and 21 of 54 rural municipalities in 10 districts of the province.
