Governor Adhikari suspended

The government has suspended Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank, Maha Prasad Adhikari. A minister in a condition of anonymity confirmed the suspension of the governor of the central bank from his post with the initiation of an investigation on him. According to the Ministry of Finance, a three-member committee led by a former judge of the Supreme Court is formed to look into the issue. The committee was formed as per the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2002.

SKorea to launch self-employment scheme for returnees

The South Korean government has been planning a self-employment programme for Nepali migrant workers who have returned from Korea. The programme will provide skill training to the returnee migrant workers in Nepal to take up local business, and provide economic support as well. “We want Nepali workers returned from South Korea to be economically fit so the government wants to launch training programme for them. Reliance Spinning to expand production facility

Reliance Spinning Mills Limited is expanding its production facilities at a cost of Rs. 4.5 billion. The largest spinning mill in the country is adding two new production plants to its already existing six manufacturing units. About Rs. 10 billion has been invested in the industry so far. After the addition of the new units, total investment will reach Rs. 15.5 billion.

Nepal, China agree to study cross border power supply

Nepal and China have agreed for the feasibility study of cross-border power grid connection. Visiting Chinese State Councilor and Minister for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi and Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Narayan Khadka witnessed the signing of the agreement and exchange of documents at a bilateral meeting held at Singha Durbar on Saturday.

12 local bodies running sans budget outlays

Even after four years’ experience in federalism and governance, some of the local bodies failed to formulate and execute their budget in time. While the third quarter of the current fiscal year 2021/22 is nearing its end, 12 local governments haven’t been able to pass their budget document. According to the constitutional provision, local bodies should formulate and pass their budget by the local assembly 20 days before the end of the fiscal year.

Tax evasion case filed against Bottlers Nepal

The Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) has filed a case at the Patan High Court against Bottlers Nepal Limited claiming Rs. 7.43 billion dues to the government including fines.
