Director Dins Palpali’s Chiso Ashtray is scheduled to be released in the theatres across Nepal from March 18, a day after the Fagu festival. Director Palpali said that he was releasing the film seven years after he started working on it.

Reducing Chhaupadi practice through music

Rekha Joshi, a popular Deuda singer from Sudurpaschim Province, sang a Deuda song through Thado Bhaka at the awareness cultural festival organised on the premises of Bhagwati Aadharbhut School, Dewalbaj, in Thalara Rural Municipality-3, on Friday. Singer Joshi sang the Deuda song in Thado Bhaka to generate awareness among the locals against the evil practice of Chhaupadi, in which women during their period are sent to stay in unsafe sheds built away from their home.

Gold import quota drops to 10 kg a day

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has halved the gold import quota. Issuing a circular Sunday, the NRB informed all the concerned banks and financial institutions about the reduction of the import quota. The central bank has now made arrangements to import only 10 kg of gold daily. Earlier, the NRB had allowed import of 20 kg gold a day.

NEA asks firms to receive power supply from 132kV transmission line

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has asked the industries of Bara-Parsa Industrial Corridor to get power supply from 132 kV transmission line. Under the campaign to consume electricity generated within the country, the NEA will supply electricity from 132 kV to industries of the Bara-Parsa Industrial Corridor, where many industries are preparing for their operation, and others are being set up.
