Export of cardamom doubles

With exports almost doubled, large cardamom has topped the list of items among Nepal’s good exportable products this fiscal year. According to the trade statistics of the Department of Customs, cardamom exports have reached around Rs. 6.7 billion during the first 11 months of the current fiscal year. This is 93.7 per cent higher than the export of the same period last year.

Kasthamandap reconstruction: 85% of work completed

Construction of the famous public shelter Kasthamandap has been ongoing for quite some time now and currently workers are busy laying out wooden plates in the structure’s roofs. Until the first week of July, almost 85 per cent of the construction has been completed on the three-storied historic shelter of Basantapur. Hospital helpers arrested on charge of jewellery theft

Police arrested two helpers of the morgue in Damauli Hospital on charges of stealing jewellery from a woman’s dead body kept for autopsy. The dead body was of Saraswati Thapa, a resident of Ward No. 3 of Bandipur Rural Municipality who had died in landslide on July 1. One of her ear was cut off to steal her gold earring weighing 48 Lal (0.48 Tola). “We found that the earring was stolen when we saw a cut on Saraswati’s right ear,” said Mahadev Ale, Saraswati’s elder brother.

Buddha statues unveiled in Kapilvastu parks

Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Shankar Pokharel has unveiled the statues of world’s first and second Buddha in newly constructed parks at their birth places in Kapilvastu on Saturday. During the unveiling, CM Pokharel requested everyone to conserve and promote the place as it has been proved that the first two Budhhas were born in Kapilvastu. The park and statue will be conserved and developed further with the coordination from public and local government.
