Gandaki govt will support in Pokhara airport's operation: CM

Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Krishnachandra Nepali Pokharel and other ministers inspected the under-construction Pokhara Regional International Airport in Pokhara on Wednesday. During the inspection visit, Chief Minister Pokharel expressed his commitment to providing all required support to bring the Pokhara Regional International Airport into operation. He also urged the concern parties to help solve problems which have affected the on-going construction works.

Cheaper packages introduced to attract tourists to Lumbini

Lumbini-based tourism businesses have introduced cheap tour packages to restart tourism in the area after the devastating COVID-19 pandemic. According to tourism entrepreneurs, these packages are designed to attract domestic and foreign tourists to Lumbini. The Lumbini Hotel Association (LHA) has announced a one-night two-day guided tour package for Rs. 2,199. As informed by Leela Mani Sharma, general secretary of the Association, the package will be available for visitors from Friday.

Govt to form task force to run business in Thamel

Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand on Wednesday said that the government would form a task force to restore the tourism and nightlife upended by the coronavirus pandemic. He said that a task force headed by a Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, representatives of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and concerned businessmen would be formed to bring the businesses back to their normal state.

One more sculpture returning home from New York

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, on Wednesday announced that it would return another sculpture to Nepal. The 10th-century sculpture of Lord Shiva, stolen nearly 50 years ago from Kankeshwori Temple (Kanga: Ajima), is returning to Nepal. The sculpture depicts Lord Shiva, a revered Hindu deity, with two disciples in an abode atop Mount Kailash.

Over 70% people vaccinated in Kathmandu Valley

More than 70 per cent of the population in the Kathmandu Valley have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP). The MoHP said 73 per cent of the target population in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur has been administered full dose of jabs.
