Eight more Nepalis die of COVID-19 in India   

Eight more Nepali people in India have succumbed to COVID-19 last week, taking the fatality caseload among the Nepalis abroad to 293 as of Saturday evening.    

     Free health insurance for the poor  

The Rampur municipality has introduced free health insurance programme for the poor family members in the municipality. The municipality has been identifying the citizens who are unable to subscribe to the insurance facility and providing them with the coverage.

     Man dies after being hit by buffalo   

A man has died after being hit by a buffalo at his home. Chakra Saud,40, of Adarsha rural municipality-1 in the district was severely injured after being attacked by the domesticated animal and died during treatment on Saturday, DSP at the District Police Office Indra Bahadur Malla said.    

     Nepalis returned back from border point 

Nepalis trying to cross over to India through the western transit of Gadda Chowki were returned back by the Indian side on Saturday. The Indian Border Security Force personnel did not allow the Nepalis to enter India.    

  Gai Puja, Govardhan Puja and Mha Puja being observed 

Gai or Cow puja, Goru Puja or ox worship and Govardan Puja are being observed throughout the country today on the fourth day of the five-day-long Tihar festival celebrated by the Hindus in the country.   

Locals forced to pay to cross river 

Locals of the Laljhadi rural municipality, one of the most geographically remote region of the district, are still forced to pay to cross the Doda river. Locals use rubber tubes to cross the river during the winter when the water level is low.  

     Former local body official dies due to COVID-19

Former Chair of then Arjundhara Village Development Committee of Jhapa, Kundan Bhattarai, has died of coronavirus infection. Also a leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Bhattarai died on Friday evening at Mediciti Hospital in Kathmandu, Mana Kumar Gautam, a member of the then Constituent Assembly said.
